Mayara Puertas
Mayara Puertas

3Mayara Puertas was born in 1993, in a region known as ABC Paulista, Brazil. She sings since she was little, when she began with music by singing popular songs, playing the piano and under some influence from her own family, which was always connected to some sort of musical art.

In her childhood she learnt by herself to play piano, guitars and electric guitars, only by studying old music books owned by her father, covering songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Secos e Molhados and Kansas.

She began to love heavy metal under the influence of a good friend who introduced her to the style, and the first bands who called her attention was Iced Earth, Iron Maiden, Manowar and Hammerfall. In time she began to search for more brutal types of metal, and found in thrash and death metal her true calling, starting from then to dedicate herself to learn agressive vocal techniques, inspired by Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Hypocrisy and Overkill.

By her love for music making and vocal explorations, she joined a band called Necromesis, where she released the “Echoes of a Memory” EP and “The Poet´s Paradox” full album, not only as a singer, but by recording some piano and accoustic guitars. As part of Necromesis, she has present herself in many brazilian cities, including a tour with Master (USA) and Vital Remains (USA). Also, she was pointed by the Female Metal website as one of the greatest extreme heavy metal singers of the 2014 year. She left the band a year before that, leaving a respectful legacy and a cover song for Bathory´s Man of Iron, where she mixed her clean vocals with brutal screams. In 2015 began the compositions with Gorgona, extreme metal project that composes with her partner Patricia Schlithler (Ex Hellarise / Ex-Harppia) bassist.

In october 2015, she joins Torture Squad as official lead vocals and hitting the road with the band for several concerts throughout Brazil.

Influences: David Vincent (Morbid Angel), George  Corpse Grinder “Fisher” (Cannibal Corpse), Rachel Heyzer (.Infinited Hate/Ex-Sinister) Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy/Pain), Sabina Classen (Holy Moses), Bobby “Blitz” (Overkill).
