One of the most renowned bands in Brazilian metal, TORTURE SQUAD, announces the long awaited new album, entitled ‘Devilish’. The album starts the band’s new partnership with the Italian label Time To Kill and will be released on September 22, 2023. Along with the announcement, the band releases the cover art, made by Marcelo Vasco, a Brazilian illustrator who has already created for Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, Soulfly among others.<\/p>\n

\u201d \u2018Devilish\u2019 is an album surrounded by a somber atmosphere, its lyrics show yearnings experienced in our century, such as the constant degradation of the Amazon rainforest and the population increasingly affected by psychological illnesses such as anxiety and depression. At the same time, it opens escape windows to an imaginary world inspired by games, series and fiction books\u201d.<\/p>\n
On their second album with the new lineup, Mayara Puertas (Voice), Rene Simionato (Guitar), Castor (Bass) and Amilcar Christ\u00f3faro (Drums) maturely transcend the sound of extreme metal, incorporating progressive metal, influences from Brazilian music and symphonic elements.<\/p>\n
The album also honors Brazilian heroes with the participation of Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) in the track \u201cBuried Alive\u201d, it is a tribute to Rickson Gracie, the resilient fighter of Jiu Jitsu considered one of the greatest legends of the sport, theme of the track \u201cWarrior\u201d. The band also mobilized several musicians linked to indigenous causes in their country to collaborate on the song \u201cUatum\u00e3\u201d, making an appeal for the preservation of the Amazon in a song that flows powerfully with the speeches of the indigenous leader Raoni Metuktire and tribal rhythms.<\/p>\n
Currently TORTURE SQUAD continues with a busy schedule, performing shows all over Brazil and preparing to release ‘Devilish’. More information will be released soon.<\/p>\n
TORTURE SQUAD recently released the live album ‘Tortura en La Iglesia En Vivo’, with the unreleased single “The Fallen Ones”, exclusively premiered on the Decibel Magazine website. The disc synthesizes the energy of the headbangers present on July 16, 2022, where the band performed in a sold-out night at La Iglesia, in S\u00e3o Paulo, one of the biggest cities in the world, and the entire recorded show gave rise to the new album at alive.<\/p>\n

With almost three decades of experience, with excellent live performances including at the most important metal festivals in the world, the Brazilian group gathered legions of fans playing throughout the country, Latin America and Europe.<\/p>\n In 2019, while preparing the new album, Torture Squad arrived at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, the Brazilian Rock in Rio, where they performed for an audience of 120,000 people. In a cast full of metal legends like Anthrax, Slayer, Sepultura, Scorpions and Iron Maiden, the show was epic alongside Chuck Billy (Testament) and the Brazilians of Claustrofobia on the Sunset stage, with the set covering songs from their entire career Torture Squad and Testament classics. After Rock in Rio, came the long-awaited tour of Central America, passing through Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. The highlight was the show at Mexico Metal Fest which Torture Squad was one of the headliners.<\/p>\n In 2020 they released a new single and video called \u201cO Doutrinador\u201d, inspired by a Brazilian comic book character that also became a movie and TV series. The English version of the single and video called \u201cThe Awakener\u201d is also available.
