One of the most renowned Brazilian metal bands, TORTURE SQUAD, announces their long-awaited new album, titled ‘Devilish.’ The album kicks off the band’s new partnership with Italian label Time To Kill and will be released on September 22, 2023. As a teaser, the band releases the first single, titled “Mabus,” this Friday, July 14, which comes accompanied by a lyric video by Wanderley Perna. “Mabus” was recorded and mixed by Diego Rocha at Bay Area Studios, and mastered by Martin Fury, guitarist of Destruction and famous for working with the bands The Damnation, Invisible Control, and Eskrota.
Regarding the new single, TORTURE SQUAD comments:
“The lyrics were inspired by the prophet Nostradamus’ prediction about the arrival of ‘Mabus,’ the third antichrist. It’s a fast, powerful, and aggressive song.”
On their second album with the new lineup, Mayara Puertas (Vocals), Rene Simionato (Guitar), Castor (Bass), and Amilcar Christófaro (Drums) maturely transcend the sound of extreme metal, incorporating progressive metal, Brazilian music influences, and symphonic elements.
The album also pays homage to Brazilian heroes with the participation of Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) on the track “Buried Alive,” a tribute to Rickson Gracie, the resilient Jiu-Jitsu fighter considered one of the sport’s greatest legends, the subject of the track “Warrior.” The band also enlisted several musicians linked to indigenous causes in their country to collaborate on the song “Uatumã,” a call for the preservation of the Amazon in a song that flows powerfully with the words of indigenous leader Raoni Metuktire and tribal rhythms.
Torture Squad currently has a busy schedule, performing shows throughout Brazil and preparing to release “Devilish.” More information will be released soon.

Torture Squad is considered by extreme music fans as one of the most visceral and powerful metal bands working today. With nearly three decades of experience, with excellent live performances, including at the world’s most important metal festivals, the Brazilian band has amassed legions of fans, playing throughout the country, Latin America, and Europe.
In 2019, while preparing their new album, Torture Squad arrived at one of the world’s biggest music festivals, Brazil’s Rock in Rio, where they performed for an audience of 120,000. Featuring a lineup packed with metal legends like Anthrax, Slayer, Sepultura, Scorpions, and Iron Maiden, the show was epic, alongside Chuck Billy (Testament) and Brazilian band Claustrofobia on the Sunset stage, with the set encompassing songs from throughout Torture Squad’s career and Testament classics. After Rock in Rio came the long-awaited Central American tour, visiting Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. The highlight was the show at Mexico Metal Fest, where Torture Squad headlined.
In 2020, they released a new single and video called “O Doutrinador,” inspired by a Brazilian comic book character that was also turned into a film and TV series. The English version of the single and video, called “The Awakener,” is also available. In 2021, the band celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the release of their third album, “The Unholy Spell” (2001), by performing the entire album live.
In 2022, Torture Squad performed throughout Brazil alongside major bands such as Exodus and Nervosa, also providing the recently released live album, “Tortura en La Iglesia En Vivo.”
