DevilishOne of the most renowned bands in Brazilian metal, TORTURE SQUAD, announces the long awaited new album, entitled ‘Devilish’. The album starts the band’s new partnership with the Italian label Time To Kill and will be released on September 22, 2023. Along with the announcement, the band releases the cover art, made by Marcelo Vasco, a Brazilian illustrator who has already created for Slayer, Dimmu Borgir, Soulfly among others.

About the new album, MAYARA PUERTAS comments:

” ‘Devilish’ is an album surrounded by a somber atmosphere, its lyrics show yearnings experienced in our century, such as the constant degradation of the Amazon rainforest and the population increasingly affected by psychological illnesses such as anxiety and depression. At the same time, it opens escape windows to an imaginary world inspired by games, series and fiction books”.

On their second album with the new lineup, Mayara Puertas (Voice), Rene Simionato (Guitar), Castor (Bass) and Amilcar Christófaro (Drums) maturely transcend the sound of extreme metal, incorporating progressive metal, influences from Brazilian music and symphonic elements.

The album also honors Brazilian heroes with the participation of Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) in the track “Buried Alive”, it is a tribute to Rickson Gracie, the resilient fighter of Jiu Jitsu considered one of the greatest legends of the sport, theme of the track “Warrior”. The band also mobilized several musicians linked to indigenous causes in their country to collaborate on the song “Uatumã”, making an appeal for the preservation of the Amazon in a song that flows powerfully with the speeches of the indigenous leader Raoni Metuktire and tribal rhythms.

Currently TORTURE SQUAD continues with a busy schedule, performing shows all over Brazil and preparing to release ‘Devilish’. More information will be released soon.
