One of the most renowned Brazilian metal bands, TORTURE SQUAD, announces their long-awaited new album, titled “Devilish.” The album kicks off the band’s new partnership with Italian label Time To Kill and will be released on September 22, 2023.
This Friday, August 18, the band releases their second single, titled “Hell is Coming,” with an incredible music video directed and shot by Eric Luchini. The track is a piece of progressive death metal inspired by the online game Diablo IV, featuring Lilith as the main character.
In the music video, Lilith is played by five-time world champion cosplayer and drag queen Mauricio Somenzari, better known as Slovakia. Mauricio has over 20 years of experience in the industry. In addition to his extensive competitive career, he is one of the most prominent drag queens in the country, working with various brands such as Amazon, Blizzard, Riot Games, Warner, HBO, Maurício de Sousa, and many others. He was also part of the cast of the reality show “Caravana das Drags” with Xuxa Meneghel, on Prime Video.

Torture Squad is considered by extreme music fans as one of the most visceral and powerful metal bands currently active. With nearly three decades of experience, with excellent live performances including at the most important metal festivals in the world, the Brazilian group has amassed legions of fans playing throughout the country, Latin America, and Europe.
On their second album with the new lineup, Mayara Puertas (Vocals), Rene Simionato (Guitar), Castor (Bass), and Amilcar Christófaro (Drums) maturely transcend the sound of extreme metal, incorporating progressive metal, Brazilian music influences, and symphonic elements.
The album also pays tribute to Brazilian heroes with a guest appearance by Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) on the track “Buried Alive,” and a tribute to Rickson Gracie, the resilient Jiu-Jitsu fighter considered one of the sport’s greatest legends, the subject of the track “Warrior.” The band also enlisted several musicians linked to Indigenous causes to collaborate on the song “Uatumã”—Suzane Hecate (Miasthenia), Victor Rodrigues (Tribal Scream), and João Luiz (Golpe de Estado)—making a plea for the preservation of the Amazon in a song that flows powerfully with the words of Indigenous leader Raoni Metuktire and tribal rhythms.
As a first taste of the action, the band released their first single, “Mabus,” accompanied by a lyric video by Wanderley Perna. “Devilish” was recorded and mixed by Diego Rocha at Bay Area Studios, and mastered by Martin Fury, guitarist for Destruction and known for his work with The Damnation, Invisible Control, and Eskrota.
